John Ssenvuma’s Story

John Senvuma is a dedicated family man who comes from a remote village in Kasokoso, Lugazi. It is a small and undeveloped village filled with many struggling families, hopelessness and people striving to find something to eat everyday in order to survive.

In order to raise a living for his family, John and his wife engage in farming and rearing of animals. This helps them survive and cater for the entire family basic needs. With his family of eight (8), he takes the initiative to cater for some of his children’s education too. This gets harder for the older children in high school due to the higher school fees payments.

The situation in Kasokoso doesn’t favor the general living status of John and his family since the access to basic needs is difficult. Even with the products he obtains from his farm, the cost at which they are sold is low; this therefore makes his earnings low.

Through our partners and willing individual supporters, we managed to procure John a goat which he now hopes to raise and once it produces he hopes to earn some money from the project to help the family more. This is a long-term process but with the effective handling and help he can multiply. Also, John hopes to buy a calf if he earns more to help with the family needs. During holidays, Mr. John can now teach his children the basic skills of farming, rearing animals and managing of his small farm altogether so that they can practice it as a skill of earning a living for survival through and after school-time.
